Our Background

Melting Pot Arts was founded in 2002 by Director Rebecca McGarvie and a team of volunteers from County Durham. The team wanted to give young people in the area the opportunity to develop their performing arts skills and perform on a professional stage. The project culminated in a variety performance at the Gala Theatre, Durham and raised over £1,300 for Rainbow Trust Children's Charity.

Following the success of this initial project Rebecca went on to develop the organisation and with the support of Prince's Trust, Melting Pot Arts was launched as a business in June 2005.

Supported by many local artists and organisations Melting Pot Arts has grown from strength to strength and has established itself as a high quality arts provider within the area. We are now reaching a further stage of development by preparing to move into premises as well as developing independent projects such as Darlington Arts Academy.
