Summer Stage School, Studio Un-Scene

Local children and young people are being invited to attend an exciting summer holiday project to create a piece of theatre in just one week.

STUDIO un-SCENE is an action packed summer school for children and young people aged 8 - 16 who are interested in dance, drama, singing, music technology, film, photography, costume or technical theatre. The project will launch on Friday 31st July at Hummersknott School with a welcome workshop. Sessions will then run from Monday 3rd August, ending with a final performance on Friday 7th August.

The performance follows the story of up and coming production company STUDIO SCENE as they prepare a live TV broadcast in just one week. Summer school members will take part in the cast or crew to create an interactive multi-media performance on Friday 7th August at 7pm.

The project will be led by Darlington Arts Academy, a local not-for-profit group. Director Rebecca McGarvie said; Following the sold out performances of our end of term showcase last week we are excited to be welcoming new members into the Academy for our summer school.

Last year's project Planet X was a great success as many young people with little or no experience came along, made new friends, learnt new skills and had a fantastic time.

We are also keen to hear from those aged 16+ who are interested in arts leadership and might like to join our Summer Internship Scheme and volunteer on the project.

Places cost £50 per person and must be booked in advance.
